about us

Located in the Royal National Park, this beach is only accessible by walking track from the Garawarra car park near the ranger station, or by walking along the coast from Garie and through Era.

Burning Palms is a great surfing beach but can be quite hazardous at times. Rip currents generally number around four. Two of these run up against the headlands and the rest shift in the central part of the beach. Sand bars between the rips are often detached from the beach by deep troughs so caution is advised.

Shacks(http://www.rpnshacks.info) occupy the northern slopes of the valley and the surf club has a Clubhouse situated back from the beach in the bush. In May 1997 during a large storm, the Burning Palms Boat Shed was washed away by the huge seas and needed to be rebuilt.
