Burning Palms Surf Life Saving Club was formed in 1939 and has continued to patrol the beach every Sunday and Public Holidays from the last weekend in September to end of April each year. Saturday patrols are maintained during December and January.
The beach has a permanent rip at the northern end and the safest area to swim in normally in the middle of the beach.
Members of other Clubs - You can help
Burning Palms SLSC require the assistance of 5-10 members to complete a suite of rostered patrol at our beach during the 2010-11 season due to a severe shortage of active members. It is a unique Club, situated in the Royal National park that offers a unique Life Saving experience. Please consider helping us!
Burning Palms is looking for a mix of patrolling members with different awards including IRB drivers, crewman, ART etc. You would need to be able to complete at least one patrol a month as a Team that would have a Burning Palms Patrol Captain. A list of the rostered dates are provided below. Members who form part of this roster will be given free membership at the club and use of all club facilities including accommodation at the beach in the Clubhouse.
What facilities do we have?
The unique part of our club is that you have a clubhouse and accommodation right on the beach within the national park. Most members make a weekend of patrols by spending the Saturday exploring the park and staying in the clubhouse Saturday night.
Accommodation at the Club House is for a small fee when not patrolling or free for members when on patrol. Club House facilities include family room or dorm accommodation, kitchen (fridge, oven, stove), shower/toilet, BBQ and tv.
What activities can we do?
Apart from patrols, Burning Palms is a great surfing beach without the crowds of a Sydney beach, we also many fishing spots in the area and plenty of wildlife to see within the park.
